To enroll in the PADI Open Diver course or PADI Junior Open Water Diver course in Western Australia, you must

  • Be 12 years or older
  • Answer NO to all medical questions or pass a scuba diving medical
  • Be able to swim 200m without stopping (doesn’t have to be pretty)
  • Tread water for ten minutes

The Fun Part

The fun part about learning to dive on the PADI Open Water Diver course is . . . well, just about all of it because learning to  scuba dive is incredible.

You breathe underwater for the first time (something you’ll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified PADI open water scuba diver.

The Scuba Gear You Use

In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba diving gear including a dive computer, buoyancy control device (BCD), scuba diving regulators, a dive compass and a submersible pressure gauge.

The scuba dive equipment you wear varies somewhat, depending upon whether you’re diving in tropical, temperate or cold water. When you learn to dive with us we will ensure that you are warm. We provide free thermal garments and gloves during the open water dives.

The Learning Materials You Need

The PADI Open Water Diver materials cover what you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology and safety procedures. For each scuba diving concept you’ll read a description and watch a video demonstration.

Then you’ll jump in the pool (or pool-like environment) to practice these scuba diving skills with your PADI scuba diving instructor. Later, as a certified PADI open water diver you can use the course materials as a reference guide for future scuba diving adventures and to review what you learned.
